BugBear Virus Spreads Quickly on the Internet
The BugBear virus spreads quickly on the Internet. Virus scanner vendors
were quick to develop an antidote, but many users without the most current virus
database updates are vulnerable (unless they have Abtrusion Protector
installed, of course).
BugBear attempts to disable personal firewalls and anti-virus scanners on
the host it infects. It also tries to steal information from the infected
user's computer. In many cases, the virus is invisible, but an
apparent bug may cause the virus to start printing garbage on network
printers. As has been the rule with recent aggressive viruses, the BugBear
virus spreads very rapidly. In many cases the victims of the virus did not
get updated anti-virus software in time.
