Abtrusion Protector Proven Against Sobig.F and MSBlaster
Avesta, Sweden – August 25, 2002
The Abtrusion Protector security product has once again proven itself
against malicious software spreading across the Internet. Abtrusion Protector
was one of the few software products that provided out-of-the-box protection
against the Sobig.F and MSBlaster worms. Due to the very rapid spread of the
Sobig.F and MSBlaster worms, many users of traditional anti-virus software did
not update their anti-virus databases in time to protect against the outbreak.
Abtrusion Protector only allows software that has been safely installed. All
other software is prevented from loading. For that reason, it is not necessary
to update viruse databases in order to provide full protection against new
viruses and other malicious software.
Whenever new software is installed, Abtrusion
Protector can be set-up to automatically record and allow all new files that
are copied to the computer. In addition, the product verifies digital signatures
and automatically allows software signed by trusted software vendors.
In a corporate environment, Abtrusion Protector can be managed at a central
site. Management can also be distributed throughout the organization according
to the preferences of the network administrator. The products is free for
personal, non-commercial use (please see the current license terms for details).
Abtrusion Protector works on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It
operates alongside traditional security products, such as personal firewalls and
anti-virus software. The product is available for download at the company web site,
