Why can't I use RegEdit to change the Abtrusion Protector settings?

I would like to move the Abtrusion Protector files to another folder.

What if I am already hacked? What if I am already infected by a virus?

I would like to move the Abtrusion Protector files to another folder

Most of the Abtrusion Protector files are installed in a sub-folder to the Winnt\System32 folder. Abtrusion Protector would not be able to provide the same amount of protection if it were installed somewhere else. There are two reasons for this.

First, Abtrusion Protector loads very early in the boot process of Windows NT. At that point, most folders on the hard disk are not yet available. In order to install to an arbitrary location, Abtrusion Protector would have to wait until much later to start, leaving the computer unprotected while booting.

Secondly, Abtrusion Protector is able to protect the files in the install folder much more efficiently than if they were installed at an arbitrary location.
